White Pony would have been my most listened to album of that year; and i still listen to Deftones occasionally now - but i have very low expectations for this set of remixes.

Yeah, but you have to admit that it is a good lineup.

The Purity Ring Knife Party one is quite good. I think this suits the idea of a remix album, it's a very early 00's thing.

was expecting/hoping he'd lock into full mental breakbeat mode near the end, but it's still a delicious as hell remix!

one for the EKT heads... how is that vocal effect achieved? granular fukkery?

Yeah wish he had micro-edited and chopped ala Go Plastic but it's def growing on me.

Props to both, like two of my fave 5 artists probably so fantasy stuff.

Amazing to hear a track from my teen years remixed by someone else I was listening to but considered part of a totally disparate world.

Makes me question if life is a simulation, etc.

The vocal treatment (especially "transpose......" getting pulled apart around 2:15) is very tasty, and the chugging/spacey mid-section accentuates a note that the original song hit for me, with a sense of being swept away by waves of something overwhelming. climaxing into some classic tom splashy-but-clipped kit sounds about 3/4 through. and Finally re-emerging with the original feel mostly intact, but from "behind bars" as I'd call it.

It feels like Tom understands the song, which makes me happy in a way I didn't expect.

Or maybe I'm just hearing what I want.

The whole remix album is surprisingly ace. I could be mistaken but I don’t think there is a bad track on it. Been a great year for Deftones.

yep. as far as remix albums go, it's pretty good. but that isn't much of an accolade considering how unfathomably wank most of them are,

100% agree. When I heard there was a ‘remix album’ of one of my favourite albums of all time, my blood turned cold. Christ. It wasn’t a case of of good will it be, but a case of how shit it would be. Not so here. Super excellent tracks ?

The mythical classic White Pony remains intact ?
