John Tejada - Year Of The Living Dead (Kompakt)

New album, more clips.

Love Tejada.  This one sounds like a turn away from his more straight ahead Orbital-esque tech house to something a bit deeper.  Color me intrigued.

tejada is a name ive seen forever but never truly explored. tell me where to start. 

The Predicting Machine is a personal favorite of mine.

I’m sure many will disagree, but I tend to enjoy his more recent albums on Kompakt than his earlier stuff.

I totally agree with that. ''Signs Under Test'' had me totally convinced at the time. I've listened again to "Parabolas" and "The Predicting Machine" and finally tought they were nearly as good.

But his latest and this newly announced release (following the bits on Kompakt website) sound average, no?

Finally got around to listening to this - really, really good stuff.  A bit of a departure from his more dancy, upbeat work though.  Some really clever rhythms and also really multilayered but not overcrowded (if that makes sense).

Tejada's a really good sound engineer, his tracks have a spaciousness to them - that's what caught my ear when I first heard Lucid Dream on A13; Pure Punk gets it right and tight straight away with Dreamworks. Around that time I had already been a huge fan of Mark Broom's Pure Plastic/Rewired/Unexplored Beats - Tejada scratched that same particular itch, but in a slightly different way.
