Pardon the cheeky title  Always a sucker for Autechre-style broken beats and FM-synthesized soundscapes

Dope. I'd probably "lock it" with some groove or repetitive melody to avoid impression of randomness

I dig it. Also I don't think it's anywhere near too random. Nice sounds.

is there a generative process behind making stuff like this? i just can't wrap my head around it.

it seems like its ever changing and evolving. 

do you live jam it with hardware/modular? or is it like setting a set of 'rules' on certain parameters and it sort of creates itself?

Thanks. It's all Max/MSP, really. No hardware synths or drum machines or stuff like that. I would say it is just unconventional sequencing and inter-relating sub components using some common parameters (like every nth time a kick is hit, trigger a snare hit that is slightly different in pitch than the previous hit). A good amount of modulation is there as well, again by using parameters that are used in other parts of the patch.

I am quite hesitant to call the patch/process generative though - I'd say 95% of this is deterministic. That is not to say that I try to avoid randomization, not at all - I have other works with "controlled" randomization (for the lack of a better word).
