Re:discovery records has gotten a hold of a very crucial and rare compilation from 1992 of historic American techno and trance . As you may know, Re:discovery records released a Human Mesh Dance EP and have slated for early 2022 a compilation with Facil and Prototype 909. After talking with Jason Szostek (Prototype 909, BPMF, Serotonin records etc) and long time friend and owner of Complete Mastering, Dietrich Schoenemann (Prototype 909, Hidden Agenda records etc), Jason let us know that he had some copies of this rare compilation in his attic. Sealed ones! I think some of you will be very interested in this. This right in our wheelhouse sound wise! This compilation has everything from rave to acid trance to techno, melodic breakbeat and back. For Taylor Deupree, Dietrich Schonemann, Jason Szostek and others featured, these are some of their first techno tracks they ever did. In hindsight, this is a groundbreaking compilation in many ways. Get one before they are g one! These are sealed!

Classic US techno compilation from 1993 from X-Out, Human Mesh Dance, Prototype 909 and more; CD only, still sealed and very limited quantities. Second hand copies going for 80 €/$ 90. Recommended.

The year was 1992 and New York underground electronic label Havoc Music, unleashed by electronic mastermind Taylor Deupree, had gathered many of his electronic music friends on a cassette compilation entitled "Technocriminal Subcultures". Later that year we asked our friend Tom Gromak to help finance a CD compilation containing many of the same artists. With his help the CD was released in early 93 and helped many of us gain greater recognition for our work. Not being the greatest marketeers in the world we still have a few left, a time capsule if you will, that provides an insight into the development of what are today much better known techno artists. To me its a funny thing, some of this older more "dated" material actually has more depth and staying power than many of our subsequent releases. Perhaps it's because this CD catches us in a transition phase of our work, before we had been conditioned by the demands of the techno regime and its unflappable rules system borne out of its umbilical cord relationship to the club/rave setting. Many of us were more concerned with experimenting with sound and technology than with fitting into a marketing niche; but in the years leading up to 1992 we were becoming increasingly intrigued by techno/house grooves and their potential to assimilate new infusions and endlessly morph in forms.

You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.

  • dcom changed the title to V/A - Galaxies: An Excursion Through Technospace (Havoc; attic sealed CD find)
  • 2 weeks later...

Got my copy, although the shipping cost from the US was painful (I did get Unit 21's Reconnect in the same package, but anyway) - nevertheless, great old-school rave/techno tracks, still recommended. There are some copies left, the only second-hand copy on Discogs asking for 200 €. Insane.
