Finding this surprisingly agreeable. More like a noir film soundtrack than triphop.

pleasant blast from the past seeing the mushroom man's name pop up on here. this has a similar vibe as Fast Asleep, which is his masterpiece. cover art also reminds me a bit of that one as well.

there's something so nostalgic about those mid to late '90s ninja comps and mixes. I still pull them out of their CD cases from time to time and give them a whirl. a lot hasn't aged well, but they're classics nonetheless. and I know the barber beats/vapor stuff is there to scratch that itch. not exactly the same, but some of it works.

yep. i still remember getting my copy of zen cuts from best buy in high school. some classic stuff in there… and some not so classic stuff lol

My favorite from that comp. Not all has aged well, but this tune is perfect imo.

I used to like Ninja Tune a bunch and only recently got into some of FP's classic stuff and I now have that vocal hook of the title part of "King Ashbunapal" stuck in my head on a constant basis
