Recording the output of my soundcard

I'm looking for a program for windows that records everything that's on the output of my soundcard. I want to use it to record samples from movies, or whatever.

Most audio editors can be routed to record 'what you hear'.

Wavelab does this, so does kristal, a free multi track editor/sequencer.

It might be my aging soundblaster with Kx drivers. The ASIO implementation is very wanky when it comes to this sort of stuff.

True dat. The problem arises however when you need to use line in/mic etc. as the input to process sound and then record the output of the processed sound. That's when this comes in handy: http://www.voxengo.com/product/recorder/

cakewalk does this immaculately, but its also expensive and pointless for such a menial task

My soundcard has a special button that sends the output back in, so to speak

Niice thanks, Total Recorder did the trick. I installed the driver and it works.

A simple free VST does record the channel on which you put it: Tape-it.

I think it does the same than total recorder but right into your VST host.
