Alzado
Dope track, man. Kind of a laid back dub vibe. And I love how it’s all drenched in so much reverb. Sweet tune. To echo what's already been said already, I'm super into the enveloping reverb you have in this track, listening to this makes me feel like I'm passed out on a beach, in the best way possible. I do have some feedback as I think this is the part of WATMM where you give and receive feedback (I'm new here, so my bad if I'm wrong about that!): - There a few hits on the drums that you might consider adjusting in the mixdown to bring them out more to the listener. First off, the kick: this track gives me a dub feeling, so it makes sense that the kick is a bit rounder / softer / subdued. That said, I think you can bring it out more in the mix. You might add some subtle compression or even subtle bit crusher fx to give the attack more bite. You could add some subtle sidechaining to other elements in the mixdown to bring it out more. You could change up the kick sample, or do a number of other tweaks to bring it out more. But yea, my ear wants to hear the kick more, which you could do by adjusting its attack, but also bringing out the low end to really make the boom be felt by the listener. - Consider making that reverberated finger snap element "pop" even more. You could do this a number of ways. I'd personally bring it out more in the EQ you have on that element. - around 2:10, you bring in a closed hi hat, shortly after which you layer an open hi hat on top of it, playing the same rhythm. I'd consider bringing the closed hi hat more in the mix and shortening the release slightly on the open hi hat. Might also be a good opportunity to use the rhythms of these two drum elements to create some polyrhythms, but thats totally up to you and where you want to take the track. I enjoyed this one, looking forward to listening to more of your music! Please take my feedback with a grain of salt, mainly based on what I'm hearing / want to hear with this track, but the music is already strong. Ended up starting with Logic instead, but I've heard some great things about Reason. Now using Ableton b/c at one point I had some serious limitations using Logic with external hardware instruments. But yea, Reason seems great, and I'm of the mind that you can accomplish what you need to in any DAW Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/103905-my-music/#findComment-2960768 Share on other sites

Thanks for looking Expand Super into "...and i let them go", the droning tonal instrument + guitar strums set the scene beautifully for this track. The "horse hoof trot" sounding percussive elements and the reversed guitar samples that swell are really pleasant and exhilarating to listen to. As far as feedback: - could you improve the mixdown? probably, there are almost always adjustments you can make there. I'd also focusing on creating broader stereo space with either panning or automated panning on the individual tracks in the mix - do a harder fadeout at the very end of the track, seems that you chopped one of the samples in the mix at a spot in the wave form that is causing a audible popping noise at the very end of the track. I like "Take a seat," there are some compelling moments in this one. Some very raw moments in here and the mix does get busy at times, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Looking forward to hearing more jam sessions you guys do!
