Turntable weights

Did any of you ever use them? Noticeable sound difference or emperors new earbuds?

I saw a video of Blawan using them nust recently and just today CPU records are selling their own branded ones on bandcamp

I couldn't tell a blind bit of difference when I borrowed a pair.  Even A/B'd recordings with and without.  Zero difference.

And they will put extra, unnecessary strain and wear on the motor, spindle bearing and thrust plate.

I thought as much, in blawans case he was right near a massive woofing speaker

to be fair, in that situation (like, an intimately close booth monitor) a weight might do useful stuff to the resonances coming from airborne feedback, or if you've got a budget technics copy perhaps

I used an aluminum one for years on a rega tt and realized it was prematurely wearing the belts and causing slip. Direct drive may be different since it *should* be low torque with a small moment but unless you have some warped disks, in my personal experience, I wouldn't recommend.
