A little gimmicky but I think he's just having fun and promoting Bandcamp Fridays. I paid him a couple of euros for a beautiful little single.

Did you manage to pick up the first one? He released Vol.1 and 2 for the day as well.

They’re really good. This has prompted me to work through Oval’s back catalogue too. Really enjoying it

I feel like I repeatedly I find myself being reminded of how creative and groundbreaking his work is.

Some of these recent volumes have made me reconsider the 'O'-era stuff too, which I had dismissed at the time as not for me. Maybe I should go back and give it another shot.

First track on today's release is from that era, but way more structured. It reminds of Jim O'Rourke.

I'm sure I've heard track 3 from somewhere many years ago - Like a teaser trailer or something (maybe for an Oval album itself ... not sure!)

From the notes:

”3 - Glass UFO (2011)

This track was hidden away on the DVD-ROM disc of the physical release of my "OvalDNA" album, which has been out of print for a while now. In fact, I hid an entire album's worth of rare tracks on that data disc, so l at least wanted to bring this one back for this EP series - maybe the perfect opportunity to youtube the quirky music video Amberley Productions did for Glass UFO back then. I still can't quite get my head around that drum pattern, though, but I will someday.”

Found where I heard it from .... the music video for it mentioned in the above quote from over 10 years ago (yikes, time flies)
