Been regularly listening to 6 Music recently for the first time in forever and have been loving it - got me thinking that I really don't want radio to die seeing as Hotel Radio Paris recently stopped broadcasting.

Anyway, I thought I'd make a more general radio thread as there are several threads dedicated to specific stations.

Do you still listen to radio? Is there a good station you'd like to share? Is an artist you like doing a set on a station in the future? Share it here 🙂

I play on SubFM, which is an online station around since 2005 and some cool folks have had shows there. Mixes in my mix thread in the watmmixes forum. Always appreciate listeners!

I listened to BBC Cymru almost every day while on my recent trip to Wales. As I do not speak Welsh, I didn’t know the names of the shows, disc jockeys or artists that they played but I was shocked at how much of the music I really enjoyed. A lot of of it that I heard sounded to me like poppier versions Ty Segall or Dungen. Lots of psychy, sometimes folky or fancy indie rock stuff, with lots of catchy hooks. I wish I knew more about what it actually was. I’ll never know, probably.
What was particularly impressive was that 100% of the tunes had Welsh lyrics, which is hardcore as fuck. Those bands could easily choose to sing in English, seeing as they almost certainly are already speaking English and would benefit infinitely by just opening up their markets, but they are repping their shit hard. Pretty dope.

Saw this a few weeks back - I really hope this doesn't affect what is played on the station.

Love that - great that they're promoting Welsh as a language recently.

noods has some cool folks often, Surgeon has a show he does regularly i believe, saw him promoting one later today

https://cjtr.ca/radio/my-electric/

this guy does a weekly ambient/experimental type show on Wednesday nights. played one or two of my tunes in the last year or so but i've been listening to his show for like 3 years or something...free streaming on their site, but overall it's more just a local Canadian radio station i believe.

Cillian Murphy's 'Limited Edition' on 6 Music has come to an end. Hopefully they will renew the show at some point!!

I guess this is as good a place as any to ask: I've been looking for a certain radio show for years now, and I can't find it for the life of me. I think I was listening to Soundcloud at the time, and when the mix ended, the algorithm shook this show out of its sleeve. I listened to a couple of episodes, really enjoyed it, then forgot about it for a while, and now it's haunting me. Here's what I remember about it (not much unfortunately):

  • music genres featured were Ambient, New Age, Chillout; I remember some Terry Riley, Steve Roach, a bit of Kosmische Musik ...
  • presenter was female, so no, it's neither Hearts of Space nor Echoes.
  • I think she mentioned it was a bi-weekly show, not really sure though.
  • it was on some three letter radio station, something along the lines of NTS, NPR, NRK ...
  • they were definitely located in Hawaii
  • featured on Soundcloud (or maybe Mixcloud)
  • I guess it was four or five years ago, definitely pre-Covid, and it had been running for quite a while at the time.

I know that's not a lot to go on, but it's all I got, and who knows, maybe it rings a bell for one of you knowledgeable folks in here. Thanks for any pointers!

LYL Radio - Belguim
Kiosk Radio - France
HKCR -  Hong Kong
Rogue State - UK

A handful of my current stations in circulation, each with quite distinct programming and tags to easily navigate.

Nice one, thanks for sharing! Hotel Radio Paris was another really good French station but they shut down recently.
