First new proper album since Sacrifices in 2018? I haven't listened to any of his sample collections since, or Fudge Beats, but I'm always curious. Single sounds nice, quite post rock-ish in a Tortoise way.

Out on Lex Records March 22.

01 “Forever Chase (Scene One)”
02 “A Lord Without Jewels”
03 “Clean Up Scene Apprentice”
04 “The End Of Air”
05 “She Needs No Introduction”
06 “Onboard, Overboard”
07 “Fare La Corna”
08 “Full Recollection”
09 “Lullabies And Awakenings”
10 “Empath Lords”
11 “Desperate Demise”
12 “Wrong Suspect”

Vocal Studies + Uprock Narratives is such an all-timer of a record for me. I'll always be interested in what he's doing. This sounds nice!

he's definitely overdue for a comeback album. way too many misfires & duds have dropped since his peak greatness, aka the OWE era. will keep the hope alive, but I've been down this road before...

Digging this, looking forward to the coming album, despite there being only a few of his albums that have really moved me. A little aimless but nice vibes

thought this album was decent. moody jazz vibes. nothing close to the classic era Prefuse, but good nonetheless.

interview with him here where he discusses '70s / '80s film soundtracks were the main influence on this album:

also read that Vol. 2 is coming out soon

Really enjoyed this one and looking forward to pt. 2.  Definitely agree about the Tortoise vibes, which is not at all a bad thing in my book.  His best release since the early days.

listened to pt.1 & 2

completely agree with this assessment. it sounds like dude was having a lot of fun making this as it's all over the place with ideas that never really seem to fully materialize. reminds me a lot of his earlier predicate production guild project but slightly more accessible.
