Rrose x Polygonia - Dermatology [Eaux]

Eaux proudly announces a new collaborative mini-album from Rrose and Polygonia. Containing six tracks and over 40 minutes of music housed in a fully printed sleeve with artwork by Jon-Paul Villegas, the record focuses squarely on the dancefloor while infusing it with the kinds of psychoactive drones, intricate polyrhythms, and relentless modulations that have come to identify both of their approaches to sound. Featured heavily are their shared interests in sonic shapes that resemble natural forms and conjure tactile feelings, in this case related to themes of skin-like surfaces and circulatory systems experienced simultaneously on a micro and macro level. While several of the tracks hover in a flexible tempo range between 125 and 130 bpm, "Stretcher" reaches up to 142, and the closing track "Vena Cava" trades the kick drums for spectrally processed percussion and endlessly diverging high-frequency pulses.

Techno that makes me think about skin disease is my fav kind of techno!

This is a studio mix, started with an initial live take and then combed over meticulously with automated filters, eq, and fx. This is the same setup I use to play out, minus the automation. There is rarely a point when only one track is playing. I always try to find mixes that feel like a new track emerges from the combination. I imagine the optimal listening environment to be eyes-closed with headphones on, but I also hope you will feel an irresistible urge to move at some points

I'm sure it's just parallel thinking, but there is a chance that Rrose has listened to one of my mixes, as my sets are full of Aleksi Perälä, Paleman, Wata Igarashi and of course Rrose tracks.

Really nice little album this. 

It still needs some warmup for me. There are Rrose releases I like a lot more and Polygonia releases I like more. But maybe it needs more time

This doesn't do anything for me. Rrose's music has always sounded very run of the mill to me personally even though I try getting into her releases every time something comes out. Same with this one.
