if Röyksopp cant afford to pay someone for their album art... designers and illustrators are boned.
I am not against AI... it's sort of like wishing we stopped using washing machines instead of washing our clothes in a nearby lake, but I would like to see more clever uses of it.

Might check out the album but that double whammy of title and album art make a fella second guess himself.

Nah, washing clothes and making art are not the same. Screw this, I'm only listening to ai generated røykslop from now on.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

It’s nothing like that 😂

Streaming this now (because if they're going to use AI for their album art...).

It is very nice though. Not Chill Out levels of nice but very nice.

It could also be a crappy non ai artwork that looks like it was done in 2 minutes with ai

I found one track that I really like

The guy has 6 fingers, a known AI issue.

Atrocious artwork, they should be ashamed

I'm hardly a closed minded nun. Remember, I'm on a fucking IDM forum.... an IDM forum.. Think about that for a second before claiming people are closed minded nuns.

Oh fuck lol I didn’t notice now it’s 10 times worse

so it took them like 10 seconds to make the artwork? For a mayor release? Wow

Hey man, they got their logo in there, give them some credit.

Love the OTT bandcamp comments.

It's hard to find the words to describe how beautiful and moving this album is. "Beacons" broke me, I had to stop the car because I was crying so much! Thank you for this incredible journey.

This is just really amazing, like swimming through a see of Royksopp sounds. Just a beautiful experience. I've been listening on repeat since release.

Looks like they've been doing the cheapo AI artwork for a while.  Absolutely awful.

Narrator voice over: 'Beacons' didn't break him.  He didn't cry.  He didn't have to the stop the car.

Given that they have roots in the '90s ambient scene (Aedena Cycle, Alania, Drum Island), I suppose it's not surprising they've done something vaguely in this direction. Will give it a listen, but not expecting much. And fucking hell, if that cover isn't bad enough, it's by far the best one of the four Profound Mysteries covers. Ugh. Also, 'Profound Mysteries', nice one guys, very deep.

I do think there is some cultural aspect to the discussion of the artwork. It is horrible, (to me).  Every year, I hear dozens and dozens of electronic music and all the various sub-genres have album covers with artwork that is way worse than this Röyksop effort. I also know quite a few people, especially in European countries who find this sort of album cover sophisticated and so forth. Take a scroll through your favourite streaming service and you'll discover hundreds of albums with tacky artwork.

The thread is gone now but I remember a few years back, someone on here savaged Nadia Struiwigh's follow-up album to Lenticular because the artwork was really awful. For millions of electronic music listeners around the world, this artwork is something to be praised, admired and cherished. It's just different cultures.

For me, that Daft Punk album, Random Access Memories had the worst album cover in maybe a decade. I'm easily in the minority.
