New Mars Volta album, due for release in April. Not even officially announced yet but... seek and ye shall find. 

Looking forward to a first listen! Pleasant surprise I wasn't expecting from today.

They’ll never top deloused in the commatorium but I’m happy to hear them try. Will def checkout whatever they do.

It's up on Soulseek. 

It's moody, atmospheric, very downbeat. Kind of jazzy, bit trip hoppy even. Pretty good but it's not gonna melt your face off.

Deloused was far better than any debut album had any right to be.  They did themselves a disservice by starting at such a high point.

Tried to get into these lads a few times but failed. One of those bands that tick every box but I don't vibe with. Another band that ticks every box and always springs to mind is Black Flag. Can't get into them either.

It's legit alright, no doubt about it. 

Definitely sucks for them they must be pissed.

Everything I've heard about this sounds like it won't do much for me. Massive OG fan but S/T comeback didn't do much for me at all.

Also what's with the absolutely terrible cover art of last one and even worse with this?

Anyways I'll wait for a better quality file officially before listening but not expecting much, only good thing is I heard there is sax on it.

Agreed. Something about Omar's usage of synthesisers has never gelled with me. Something about it feels off. 
I prefer the more soundscape-y effects, when he does explore electronic sounds.

Yeah definitely. I don't even mind Nocto once I heard it on vinyl.

I've listened to basically all of his solo works and it's generally gotten worse over time too. Is it the Clouds? is one of the worst albums I've ever heard.

It's sad but I'm convinced he lost it about 10 years ago. 

I wasn't bowled over by the reunion gig in Glasgow either really. It's sad, as they were my favourite band for many years and a big part of my 20's. 

So this has quietly been released onto streaming. It bears no resemblance to the band that made the first few albums.
