I was staring at that wonderful green and blue cover and noticed a tiny bit of brown. It’s right in the middle, a little bit of brown, it appears to be the kid’s shoe.

she has a ladybird design on the pocket of her jeans. he're a picture of a similar design:

here's an article from VOGUE magazine which talks about a particular trend around the late 90s/early 00s to put embroidered picture patterns onto jeans

yeah i actually feel kinda gross after having to reading that article. one more thing - a modern pair of jeans selling on Lewis & Melly with an embroidered ladybird (the same basic idea, it's sewn onto the back pocket)

You think that's amazing, circa 1978 I had a hair cut exactly like the boy second from right and my brother had a haircut like the boy on the far right.  That could be >ME< under that blurred face!  How did BOC do that?

I read that this was from a time when Warp would only allow Richard’s face on artwork, so they forced boc to remove the faces

Really?  Why?  

I always saw it as a clever statement on the legitimacy of sampling and appropriation of old music to create new music.  It's an excellent title that perfectly describes not only this album but much of BOC's creation process as well as music in general.  In another context, it's a jab at anyone who points to the past and says "music was better then".
