wikipedia lists the tracklisting as:

Yeah, i'd like to know too. But I don't know why Rich would release the same track as on AB4 on another release (the point?)

Actully, it's likely the different test pressings have different tracks on them, he could have changed his mind while doing the test pressings (like he did about the whole album)

i would like to see an interview that he officially commented on it. it might be in one of the interviews i posted in the download section. if somebody can pull it up i'd like to see the quote.

btw: wouldn't an Analogue Bubblebath box set-thing be cool?

All pressings of AB5 have the last track (which is UNTITLED, both on AB4 and AB5 - the name 'Cuckoo' is not official as it has never appeared on any release of AB4, same goes for the other tracks on AB4).

And it's a 5/4 split if I remember correctly on the vinyl (5 on side A, 4 on side B).

A old friend of mine recorded Analogue Bubblebath 5 for me off the internet......this was like 97 or 98. Anyway my version of Analogue Bubblebath 5 has the "Cuckoo" track on it.......the track with what sounds like birds chirping, off of Analogue Bubblebath 4.

i've got 2 versions in flac

the test pressing :

Inaccurate - there was no '2005 version' - those were the original 1995 test pressings that were given out to a few people who got their Analord binder orders screwed up...

ALL AB5 test pressings include the untitled track off of AB4 (commonly known as 'cuckoo'). Any recordings you find online that do NOT contain this track is most likely the result of the encoder not including it since it is already available on a commonly-available release. End of story.

yeah, even though cuckoo seems to have been on aB5, when people put it on p2p, they took cuckoo from AB4 CD, you can tell from the difference in sound, but it makes me wonder if the two versions have any deviation.

yeah! cuckoo of AB5 doesn't sound like the track with the same title of AB4... that's why my confusion & would understand why the same title but not the same track (sound totally different)... now i understand better...

My version of AB5 has the exact same version of "cuckoo" that's on AB4.

All of what I just typed plus maybe a couple of other tracks, that I can't remember right now + the Cuckoo track are on my copy of AB5.......I think the AB4 Cuckoo and the AB5 Cuckoo are the same unless one of them is shorter than the other, which I have'nt checked out but yeah both Cuckoos sound the same. Maybe AFX was gonna release Cuckoo on AB4 and AB5 as a novelty idea....who knows??

to hopefully clear up some questions:

the discogs entry for AB5 is correct.

any 4 or 5 second variations in track lengths for different rips is due to the rips including different amounts of silence before start and after the end of each track, and playing speeds varying slightly around the proper rpm.

the version of the final track (the untitled track commonly known as 'cuckoo') is exactly the same as the version on AB4. think of AB4 as the single from the album AB5 if it offends you to have the same track released twice. if you have a version that has a different final track it's probably either a rip without the track at all, or with the wrong track.

i have a very good clean rip, on a top-notch deck, with all tracks ripped (ie not missing out the last one), provided by another member of his here board (and since he's not chimed in with info I though I would). the record was one of the unplayed analord-fuckup-compensation send-outs.

edit: also, the 12"s sent out as compensation are undoubtedly the same pressing batch as the handfull that have been floating around since the mid 90s. there's obviously a pile in the rephlex vault somewhere that have been gathering dust since the first (and only) test pressing.

if anyone who has it wants some money - im very interested in purchasing a physical copy of the ab5!!

It wasn't released twice... AB5 was never commercially released - it only exists as a test pressing.

Thank you - finally somebody to confirm what I've been saying all along. I own an AB5 (as well as recordings of other people's AB5's for comparison) and they all have the 9th untitled track on them, and that track is the same as the track that appears on AB4.

Hmmm yeah but what is the point in anything random RDJ decides to do, I mean be realistic... sometimes he just does stuff for the hell of it or to wind up his fans (most likely).
