Microphone feedback in Boxing Day?

Recommended Posts

So in Boxing Day, there's a little squeal at 3:45 I think, sounds to me like microphone feedback. Any thoughts on whether or not the track was recorded from an amp, and perhaps any guesses (if it is in fact feedback) why that might have been left in the track? I don't have the vinyl, but I'm listening to Chosen Lords, perhaps the tracks are somewhat different...

On headphones, the acoustic properties of the track really stand out. It's amazing what a speaker in a room or any mic recorded sound in a room will do on a recording.

I used to record Middle Eastern style percussion tracks with one close mic and one completely across the room, mix them both into a single track. Otherwise the sound was never right.

I also had a flute player record a track in the bathroom- the tiles gave the sound a cave-like reverb.

I would not recommend recording a modular synth in the bathroom though. Particularly in a tub full of water.

maybe its some king of spring reverb device or something where the monitors are blasting and the reverb is picking it up through vibration of sound.
