avinit
Sadly I have no turntable so I downed the tracks a couple of years ago but to get rid of my guilty conscience I rushed out to get the re-issue as soon as I heard about it. Playing the cd I realized that the mp3's I downed backthen must have been ripped at 33RPM and I actually like it better this way ! Am I the only one feeling this way ? Is there something wrong with me ? Guest thedisavowed
Which Drukqs tracks are supposed to be slowed down? Actually.. how does that stuff apply to CDs at all? Dragon
The first half of drukqs (sides A through H) are supposed to be played at 45rpm, and the second half (E through H) are to be played at 33rpm. Honestly, haven't you people ever heard of Wikipedia? Dragon
I'm listening to Arched Maid Via RDJ slowed down to 33rpm right now... it's good, but I still like the original speed as well. Zephyr_Nova
I'm listening to Arched Maid for the first time right as I happen to read this post about Arched Maid being slowed down. I like coincidences... granted I went to a post about Hangable Autobulb, so I suppose that nullifies it as being coincidental. Well fuck, thanks for shitting all over my parade. This EP is amazing, possibly my favorite release of his even. Or maybe I'm just excited because it's still new to me. All I know is that if he released it today it would still be considered groundbreaking. I really love this approach to drill 'n' bass drum programming. Also, the melody on Arched Maid is really close to a track off Drukqs that's now going through my head as a result of listening. I think it might be the first track with drums on that album, not sure. In any case, I hereby conclude this post. Yeah man I think you ARE the only one! These tracks are still just as fucking fantastic as the first day i heard 'em. And that was a looooong time ago. Utterly brilliant in every way. Zephyr_Nova
I might be overglorifying it just because I haven't listened to it much yet. I often do that with "new releases" (it's new to me). I did the opposite with Analord thinking it was very average at first. Now i really like it. One thing I really like about pretty much anything he's done is that I'm always compelled to listen again and again, regardles of whether I like it at first or not. No, I do as well. I bought the vinyl when it came out and didn't have a turntable so got a mate to transfer it to cassette. It sounded right at 33 rpm so thats how I've always listened to it. Every Day sounds great at 33 rpm. I always thought the voice was an old woman complaining about orders from her husband 'get me another tie, get me another wooly ... every day'. It sounded really poignant. Arched Maid at 33 rpm never really grabbed me. Then when someone uncovered the original vocal samples, it started to dawn on me that I'd been listenening to it at the wrong speed. Its actually a little girl talking ... .... but then, as the Warp FAW used to say, if it sounds good, you're listening to it at the right speed.
