Dpek
Well, I don't know... Not my kind of thing. I mean, I love piano works, but this one is just too harsh for me... Kind of russian. Kind of russian. Yeah, it's kinda weird. The style calls for the right hand to play all major (or minor) triads in the same position, and then the same rules with the left hand, but different chords of course. All this means is there's pretty much no key signature and some interesting restraints. I think somebody, maybe Schumann, pioneered this idea. Of course, it's not that popular. It's more of a textural experiment than melodics. Anyway, too bad you didn't like it. cheers for the listen, though. Guest Farcast
Hey, it's an interesting texture. Makes me think of those days when classical and jazz were crossbreeding, painting pictures of the (old) brand new New York. My thoughts (which are of course just that) is that with some more structure, you could paint a great and contrasted picture! (I'm obsessed with structure though, if you're a post-modernist you can ignore anything I ever say). chim
Nice, dude. I like the ideas. Guest iep
strange but nice, kinda broody and threatening with all those 'unsolved' chords.. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/11081-polytriad2/#findComment-224335 Share on other sites
plastic
Cheers for the listens guys... Really, I haven't even really made an opinion on this style yet either, let alone this piece. It's really hard for me to tell whether or not something like this is good or not... I just don't have enough experience in the area I guess. and as for whether or not I'm a post-modernist... fuck labels like that. Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide plastic's signature Hide all signatures << delyria.net >> Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/11081-polytriad2/#findComment-224606 Share on other sites
Guest Farcast
I'd like to here you do more with it, it's a good texture, and (just listened to the tunes on chloroplastic) you make some damned sweet tunes - you'll handle it right. chloroplast said: and as for whether or not I'm a post-modernist... fuck labels like that. Very much agreed. (yes, I can use the label and call it stupid, because there are folks out there who label themselves and thus make it real enough even if poorly defined, artificial, restrictive, and just silly). chloroplast said: It's really hard for me to tell whether or not something like this is good or not... You're a pioneer, photosynthesizing strange new things, and we are just your taste panel, devourers soon to be devoured ourselves. Thanks man, the encouragement is much appreciated! So, you think it could use structure? In what way were you thinking? I've been thinking of expanding some of the ideas more by sticking it into a sort of bastardized sonata form orchestrating it, probably with a mixture of orchestral and electronic instruments. I think that with material like this that it could turn out very interestingly... Bastardized sonata :D Methinks nothing could possibly be more awesome. Nuff said. *salute* Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/11081-polytriad2/#findComment-225329 Share on other sites
