i have to play a show soon and halion is too crashy for my taste

and yea, i know, impulse in Ableton, but i need somethin' a little sexier. something that can read soundfont banks and stuff.

hmmm... fuck. I use fruity slicer, but to be honest, I've also been itching for something more featureful. I don't know, I may be able to brew something up in Synthedit, but I probably won't be able to have it done by whenever you have your show...

you mean a sampler with features such as slicing and soundfont loading? There are tons im sure. I use the one in energyXT, but there are others. http://www.vemberaudio.se/products.php shortcircuit is one which is really cool. loads sf2 and slices. Theres a free vertsion (limited instances and polyphony) but it looks like the sampler I would get. Also check out directwave, as I have. More of traditional sample-set kind of sampler but it does awesome stuff like auto-samples a loaded vst, or it can sample input.
