tarsier888
i'm getting a macbook in a day or two, and it's possible that i am getting a microkorg for my birthday, which is september 8th. so! i am wondering, is there a plug in that comes with the microkorg which i could directly plug into the macbook and start making music and recording it to garageband? or is it more complicated than that? thanks Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide tarsier888's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/11617-need-help/ Share on other sites

delet...
wao .. people buy themselves brithday presents ... !! .. i just buy stuff when i need it .. (and have the cash saved up) .. seems weird to actually use a day as an excuse .. well unless mum and dad are fronting .. heh .. it's the other way round for us kids with dad (as it should be .. he paid for us once) .. and with mum i prefer just to see her now and then .. rather than actually get something ... hugs worth more than the entire worlds banking and exchange system .. Guest Captain Cooper
You need one of these: It's an audio interface cat. You plug the synth into the cat's mouth, then insert the cat's tail into your macbook's line in port. Simple! ten fingers ten toes
MIDI = data Audio = sound Macbook = Computer Microkorg = Sound Toy You may have become familiar with sound over the past few years. In such places as your MP3 player, your headphones, the L/R cables in the RCA set of three... You might start by looking at what sortve strange, alien port might be on the back of the Microkorg, that could perhaps give you such a signal. Then, being to look for a strange, wild port on your Macbook. Maybe with a picture of a microphone or an arrow pointing in toward the laptop on it. One that may indicate "this is the way the sound goes into the computer". I beleive these two are essential for dissecting the "plug the fucking line out from the fucking synth into the fucking line in on your laptop" riddle. tarsier888
lol. thank you, i didn't realise it was that simple. and the microkorg comes with the wires to do all that? Guest Yggdrasil
hmm...not a serious answer so far, eh? firstly, you'll be able to record audio directly via your macbook's audio-in jack, which can be selected as the input in Garageband rather easily. this tutorial will show you how: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/GarageBan...20garageband%22 in order to exchange MIDI data between your microkorg and your lappy, buy one of these: http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/MIDISPORT2x2-main.html to use it, read this: http://www.macjams.com/article.php?story=20040128064923856 peace.
