Guest Thisket
PLEASE stick with how it starts and make it into an ambient song. It's just my taste, but it would make a good "on-edge" ambient song, a la SAWII. Guest oxiactionmax
i planned to chop up a few choice segments to complement the drums and get rid of the rest, just haven't got round to it yet Edited August 23, 2006 by oxiactionmax Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/11639-short-sketch/#findComment-234375 Share on other sites
Bubba69
the attack on the sines is too fast! Nah, I dont really care. Just the digital clickyness is wierd. the quality is a little funny but I like it. Guest wasps
Haha! sounds like BA Baracus when the vox first comes in, so a very good start... [+] The breakwork is excellent, you're right to be happy with that. Lots going on, no repetition. [–] The mix is very raw at the moment - vox is too smothered in delay feedback, drums too high etc; the sines either need to be cleaner or more overtly glitchy. as currently they just sound clippy. Be interesting to hear where you take it. ..... aint ...... gettin on ...... no plane ....... foo'. Guest pawwa
Nice work! The intro is aphex twinish if I could say it like that ; ). I think this maybe needs some direction and mastering. I like the beats, and the distorsion on them! I don`t like the delay on that rap theme ; ). In what s/w did u do this? BCM
Yeah yeah, nice breaks, very tinkered with. Your sound quality needs serious work - clipping all over the place. You need to listen to it over and over and recognise where the clips are occuring and turn the subsequent part down a bit or adjust the bass or whatever (you need to find out what's making the particular sound clip to start with), then fiddle with all the other parts so they all stand out in the mix as seperate parts, but that make up a whole track if you know what I mean. Once you've got that sorted, run it all through something like T-Racks 24, or whatever mastering software/plugin you like to beef it up and give it prescence. Guest oxiactionmax
Ok, here's the same bit again with some obvious changes, namely the removal of the majority of the vocals and an increase in tempo, plus the addition of a nice bit of sub bass and some glitchy noises made with my mouth and processed pretty heavily. I've tried to take onboard all the criticisms and i think the mix sounds better, although i still have no fucking clue about the fine art of mastering and it's all trial and error. If you listened before i'd be most grateful if you'd do so again. http://www.sendspace.com/file/8xfpae Cheers. Guest Thisket
FLAC??? I had the codec on my old computer, but FLAC??? FFFFFFFFFFLLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAA..// A good way to master is to use good headphones, with all your things routed ito whatever you're recording into (I assume a computer), then look at the incoming levels (Cool Edit 96 is very worth getting) and make sure there's minimal noise during silence and that it doesn't clip at full tilt. If you're using software, then I DON'T KNOW. I hope you went with my suggestion! ...FLAAAAAAC?? Guest oxiactionmax
whats wrong with flac? anyway i've run out of freebies on my wav/mp3 converter trial thing (yeah i'll get a cracked one or something but not to put one short track up here) and when i recorded it direct to mp3 it sounded bollocks. what's good in the headphones dept? I'm a skint student so anything above like 50 quid i'll just have to do without. Guest Thisket
Well, I'm a student and I just spent most of my $30 on Autechre albums. FLAC is just too big for just listening. If I really liked it and wanted a good copy, then I'd ask for FLAC, but more likely .WAV, because that's just ~me~. Go to exactaudiocopy.de and download their program! It's free. And that LAME codec wouldn't hurt, if you know how to do it. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/11639-short-sketch/#findComment-240458 Share on other sites
