Three Ableton Live 5 questions...

Recommended Posts

Guest Yggdrasil

I'm sure there are a few users on here who can help out with these:

  1. Is there a sample reverse button? I remember Live 4 had one, but I can't find it for the life of me in 5.2....

  2. I've got several loops running in my current project that incorporate the sample offset feature, but one loop is not reading the sample offset information...it's just grayed out. Any idea how to reactivate it? Can't finish the tune until I figure this one out.

  3. When drawing mixer/volume information in the arrangment window, is there any way to make the lines fluid or angled, rather than box-like? I need a gradual fade-in/fade-out and smooth panning...
Thanks for the help. There'll be more questions later, I'm sure.

1. yes, the sample reverse button is a tiny circle somewhere in the left hand arrangement box near the top of the window with the bmp/transpostion details in it. Sorry I dont have Abe 5 on this PC so I can't provide a screenshot, or any more specific details/.

1. see answer above - it is a small circle with arrow in it in the clip properties panel in bottom left of screen.

2. the problem may be that you need to 'revert to arrangent' - if the square button up top of screen near transport controls (has 3 horizontal lines with a left pointing arrow next to it) next to the OVR button, is red..then you need to push it so the light goes off. this should reactivate that sample. another possibility might be that the actual wav sample file has been moved since you placed the clip - u may need to 'Replace' sample to browse for it.

3. Yes - by switching off Draw Mode (pencil icon button up top - switch it off) you can then double click on automation lines to create 'nodes' which you can then use to create shapes or curves as required, by creating lots of nodes and dragging them around to suit.

hope this helps. :ok:

hmm...the revert button was my first thought as well, but it wasn't activated. the sample file hasn't been moved either, so i'm rather stumped on this one. i should have said this before, but the pitch and volume envelopes still work...just not the sample offset.

excellent...thanks mate. i'd accidentally stumbled on this once or twice, but didn't know the process involved. this'll definitely help my sequencing process.

cheers.
