add additional or replace audio track

Recommended Posts

what the fuck? yes there totally is a way. You just rip out the audio from the good video version and replace it with the english track that's been ripped from the bad video. as long as everything syncs up ok (you may need to tweak it a bit here and there) you should be sweet. I can provide you with some in-depth help if you still need it.

I'm pretty sure that either in VirtualDub and/or VirtualDubMod you can just go to Audio processing, and then select the audio track. Then re-encode the video (if you select direct stream copy on the video part then it leaves it thus doesn't lose quality)

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

mcbpete has it spot on. Virtualdub/Mod is THE divx tool and you can do pretty much anything you need to with it. I use 3 types: Virtualdub, Virtualdubmod, and Nandub. Each can do one or two things the others can't.

I helped Jubal out with this a wee while back, here's the post:

I'm assuming the extra mp3 is seperate from the video file:

you'll need Virtualdubmod, grab that shit, run it:

open up the avi file (i assume?) then go to Streams> Stream list. Hit "Add", navigate to the mp3 you want to add, hit OK a couple of times, then go to Video> Frame rate and hope like hell everything is in sync, by which i mean the (current: xx.xx fps) stuff is the same in both instances. If it's all good head up to Video> and select "direct stream copy" then File: save as - make up a new name and let it go, then yay go watch it.

If you're using VLC you can switch streams via Audio> Audio Track and selecting one of the two that are in there!

Actually I was thinking about writing a tutorial to do with this sort of stuff for watmmers, but only if it's needed (which it probably isn't)

edit: oh and by the way; this process doesn't technically re-encode the video, it just interleaves new audio.

ahh that last sentence settled it.

Edge: I have a few DIVX movies that have a seperate subtitles file (japanese movie w/ eng subtitles). I would like to burn the DIVX to DVD and include the subtitles. Is there a software suite or some process I can use to get the subtitles in there when burning?

thanks!

There is a way of doing it, I'm sure. Unfortunately I can't really help you out BUT if you head over to Doom9.org and check the Guides section there, you'll find the answers you're after. It's a great resource!

Best of luck chief!
