Guest 277: 930-933
The envelope on my Solus seems to be fucked. The only thing that seems to work anymore is the sustain. When I hit a note it just keeps on going till I turn the sustain down, even when I turn the solus off and then turn it on again it's still going. Could this even be? First I thought the keyboard cv was fucked but I can still play various notes. But adjusting attack, decay or release does nothing... Any ideas? I've fought with this synth before and don't use it THAT much so I tried looking for an example patch of a short beep or lead sound but couldn't find antyhing, in case I'm just missing something. Of course the method of returning all knobs and sliders to a neutral or zero position was tried but to no avail. Guest iep
the capacitors may have blown/broke down, that's not unusual for old arps. you could try to find a service manual and fix it yourself, or you could let the legendary Saint Eric, the ARP saviour, take a look at it, hij woont in Dordrecht en z'n site kun je vinden op sainteric.nl. Guest 277: 930-933
Yeah if it's just a few broken capacitators I might be able to fix it myself. Saint Eric would be a last resort as I'm incredibly low on cash but I guess it wouldn't be too big a job for him. I need to have a few keys repaired so maybe it's worth saving up for a complete revision. Anyway thanks for the suggestion, will go out for a multimeter tomorrow and see what I can see. Guest iep
if you get a multimeter, make sure you get a digital one with continuity checking (most cheap ones will do - diode testing is also nice to have but not really nessecary here); that'll save you loads of time because you can easily spot problems by checking for continuity/undisrupted conduction in the VCA section, that way its simple to find the broken link in the chain. Guest 277: 930-933
Cool, thanks for the heads up. Found a digital mm with continuity checking and diode testing for 8 euros in the internets.
