remix advice

hello, i browse this forum often & wood like advice on how to remake a song i made but dont really like but think it has potential.

yeah i know i made it when the analords were first coming out. it is my second or third track or something. i just lost a bunch of new stuff :( and decided to remake old stuff for now.

the sounds in this are kind of cool, but man you really need to work on the timing, how did you make this song? you should try to speed it up a bit and work on making everything sound in time. it sounds like it has no beat. it just kind of lumbers along like a waddling penguin crossbred with a cumbersome bear.

i think i was still using cubase at the time (blaaaah!) and i arranged all the samples via mouse(!) it took ages, thats why i\'m so cheap about throwing away all my old trax. guess i could redue alot of the layers with my emu.

you should try to make sure that if you are arranging samples with the mouse that the samples line up with actual quarter notes, 8th notes, 16th triplets, ect. otherwise it sounds like you played them in with a midi keyboard and didn't use any form of quantizing. this could be an alright track if you just cleaned up the timing

alright, i\'ll take this advice. ever since i got a keyboard i haven\'t been doing any chopping up, pretty much just playing realtime with basic drum loops. peace watmm, i\'m out.
