i went and saw steve reich at the barbican last nite fantastic drumming is brilliant and konono no.1 are pretty good. however coldcut and dj spooky were absolutly terrible you cannot remix steve reich like that. oh and er got this cd but havent listened yet.

Fuck, if I'd known Konono Nr. 1 were there I would have gone by myself, they're fucking amazing. Get their album for the love of God!

Hey I went to see that too :grin: I though the DJ Spooky/Kronos quartet one was pretty good actually, but the Coldcut one really didn't work (and what the heck was that ending ?! I'm guessing they cocked up there). The Kononos set was pretty good (if slightly overlong, I think it would've worked a bit better if they built it up rather than going straight into it and maintained the constant lever for 45 minutes. How they fuck did the two people on the drums survive for that long at that pace !!)

yeah the whole thign was a bit overlong and i ended up spending 7hrs walking home the dj spooky thing worked in parts. someone behind me booed coldcut but nm. yeah konono woman can sure shake her butt.

I just picked this up. Good price too!

upon observation of my lastfm you will see im currently listening to this and sublime it is too. proverb is just perfect. this will be an album of 06

saw this today in the record store. really nice package, looks juicy... I almost bought it immediatly even if I never heard a single steve reich thing.

so convince me I should get it. what does it sound like. reich is like modern classical/ambient thing, right ?? I might be wrong though.

I saw that thing called "drumming" is he doing some kind of experimentations with drums or something ?? just explain plzz.

I listened to electric counterpoint on the bus this weekend, and I was in total bliss. I just zoned out, and took in the passing scenes.
