autopilot
I like this alot. Lovely melodies and nice beats. Not headfuckingly complex, but not repetetive & boring. Seems like you've found a perfect balance and made a unique sound for yourself. Bravo. Zephyr_Nova
When I notice these more lengthy multi-song posts it takes a bit longer for me to get around to reviewing it. But i'm here for that purpose now. Once the chimey organ synths come in on the first track, I love it. During the intro preceeding that I was thinking "hmmm, I don't know about this" --probably not the best way to start things off. The reason I continued listening was because I was pretty sure I really liked some of the stuff you'd posted before. The rest of this track is fanastic, really gorgeous melodies. Lots of interesting percussive stuff going on too. Second track, again some very cool melodic stuff going on, and once the drums start glitching out it gets particularly fun to listen to. I'm liking the swing feel. I really like the crackly quality of that higher toy-pianoish sound and the way it breaks apart into triplets/64ths as it tapers off. That's a great effect. Love the ending on this one --the track gets progressively better from start to finish. Third track, more abstact approach, synths sputtering out, but the pads that creep in underneath add a nice cohesion to it. Some really sweet chord changes emerge. You've got a knack for that. The percussion work here is also very very cool, again gets progressively more interesting as the track moves on. Nice segue into the brief 1-2-3-4-5-6 bar then into a straight ahead 4/4 dancey bit to close. And closing with a reprise of the opener. I like the bit crushed yet soft sound of the synths. I like the percussionless break. The mp3-noise-ish hisses give it just the right amount of texture. Very nice reintegration of the percussion/countermelodies from there. Well, you kept me engaged as a listener. There were many elements I really enjoyed, especially the melodic arrangements and giltchy percussion work. The weakest part of the whole thing was that intro to the first track before the synth comes in. The rest kept me interested. Nice work! springymajig
I've only listened to them twice so far but I quite like them. They have a nice quirky feel which reminds me of the music from the old SNES game Earthbound. The melodies weren't exactly moving or anything but they kept my attention. Maybe in future try and through in some more powerful moments... maybe something a bit moody... or even on the opposite side of the spectrum something super happy.. .I dunno... The drums are all really cool. I love the build up in the first track. There was defenitely enough variation there for 4 tracks but if this was a whole album I'd get sick of it pretty quickly... mainly the actual drum sounds more than the arrangement/programming. So good job for now but be careful of that... goffer
unt022 part 1: this has a very vintage feel to it. i like it. the high frequencies got a little annoying at times but it gives the track plenty of character. i'm feeling this melody homey. everything is loose and free then tidies up, and loosens again. the build up is beautiful. ynn bcn 02: this track i'm not feeling. too crazy with not enough structure. the sounds weren't as fresh as the previous track. surrounded by rearviews: pretty good. abstract, but not to the point of overkill. i like how it slowed down a bit a little past the halfway mark, then caught back up. not feeling the melody too much but the beat is pretty solid. unt022 part 2: ahh yessss, there's that haunting melody i love so much. I dont know what it reminds me of, but it's wonderful. great way to tie the album together. eugene
very good stuff, just the right mix of ae and plaid :) i like the unexpectedness of it..in melodies and in beats. very lively.very skillful i think you passed that phase of "how i do it" and moved to "what do i do with it". production is flawless imo track 2 is probably my all time favorite track i've heard from someone at ekt, i have an earlier (?) version of it - "treader puls" on hdd. orgasmic. 3rd track is also brilliant, pure ae lp5 melody :) i love how it drives the whole piece, as if every other element is under it's control..gorgeous Edited November 22, 2006 by eugene Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/13800-4-songs-od-dusks-and-dawns/#findComment-305787 Share on other sites
