Searchable BPM List

Recommended Posts

What with an index of artists and songs? There are quite a few just Google them.

Sometimes they are even about 10BPM off though... about an unreliable as tabs.

I just searched google for the individual tracks I was looking for. I'm doing an album of American rap acapellas with Earvalve beats.

Whenever I've tried to actually seperate the vocals from the rest of the track, I always get elements of the song still in it. I've not figured out a way to do it otherwise. I think for it to sound best you really have to have the original vocal tracks.

A friend of mine once answered the eternal "How to isolate acapella?" question by saying "The same way you unbake bread". That's deep.

Anyway, download this free Mixmeister bpm thingy. It works.

unbaking bread is a good analogy. theoretically you could subtract the instrumental from the main mix but it'd have to be bit-perfect and that never really happens. removing the non-centre channels is a possibility too but that tends to leave the bass drum and snare and vocals are often stereo to at least some extent.

irritatingly even 'proper' acapellas from 80s b-sides (when it was more popular for pop tunes to provide an instrumental + acapella on the flip) often have high-hats/click track or some other non-vocal elements.

as for getting bpm - just download one of the millions of wee programs/plugins available that allow you to tap the beat in and average it to show the bpm to a reasonably accurate level.
