yeah! 808! when?! it's better by miles and there're no really good soft or hardware clones available. (are there?) 909 has the jomox + probably some other hardware clones + this + other software. 808 has rebirth? hmmm! i have a pretty decent collection of sampled 808s but its never enough.

Rebirth's 808 sounds alright, its not nearly as weak as its 303's anyway.

I love making drums on the nord modular tho. Anyone with a modular system, try just feeding a 1ms sqaure pulse into a 12db resonant filter set to about 69hz cutoff with the reso pumoed way into self oscilation territory. Dead on 808 bass drum. You can tune it with the cutoff knob and run it through an A/D envelope to get the punch/decay just right.

I used to think that, but if you give it a chance the Phoscyon actually sounds very very good indeed. Better than ABL in some instances....
