Guest analogue wings
I made a quick track with my lovely new MKS7 Super Quartet. Given that it has a built-in 707, I of course had to start with generic acid sounds This is MKS7 only, in one pass. No effects, no samples, no other synths. Feedback from the 707 masters would be nice  MKS7_Acid.mp3 3.8 MB · 21 downloads Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/15037-mks7-acid/ Share on other sites
Guest Promo
Beats quite nice but its needs a lot lot more to make it a half decent track. Like it when the rim shot kicks in. Really not very keen on the bassline to be honest especially as is so dominant in the mix. I can hardly hear any of the other sounds too. Yeah personally I wasn't feelin this much at all. You seriously need to raise the volume on the other sounds. Really didn't float my boat. Chris Moss Acid
i was focasing on the 707 more then the track its self.. but here is my 2 cents..... take it as you like... maybe if you can try this... the 2nd bass line woulda sounded alittle better if the release and sustain was put down a bit on the adsr.. rather then a sustainable bassline.. fuck around with the VCF a bit to make it more of A bassy sounding bassline (why not try a square wave bass sound, im a sucker for them at the moment an i can tell you from experience the 707 and SQW goes together like a motherfucker!) actually listning back on it, the first bassline (intro) could sound well mint if it was pure 16th rushes.. the last note was sustained too much for my liking, but never the less it sounded a bit better for some reason near the end of the track the handclaps are semi tone or so higher then the 707 but over all sounds spot on!!! do you have the charm of the 2 snaredrums and 2 bass drums? i see you used a *unexcusive* chris moss 707 special with the rim and BD together nice test track anyhow! chris Edited November 23, 2006 by chris moss acid Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/15037-mks7-acid/#findComment-307283 Share on other sites

Guest analogue wings
Thanks guys. Yeah, that bass is so thick and blatty it dominates everything else. And it loses a bit too much definition at the high tempo. But I wanted to show you how thick and blatty the bass is  The Super Quartet is a preset synth. You aren't supposed to be able to edit the sounds, but with a PC it's really easy cos you just send it the sysex codes and tweak it like any other synths. I javent actually mapped thw sysex in my sequencer yet, tho - so it's all factory presets! In real life it'll be my workhorse analogue helping out my MKS-50 and Oberheim, but for the demo, it's gotta carry the song! The handclap is a semitone higher? Weird. You get 11 707 sounds in total. 1 snare, 1 kick, rimshot and clap, no tambourine or cowbell. You get a choice of mono or Roland's idea of good panning if you use the stereo output. I will try and actually write a song on the thing next time... Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/15037-mks7-acid/#findComment-307342 Share on other sites
