aw man, that's nothing. the kind of demos i get for earstroke sometimes fuckin blow my head open with hilarity.

someone submitted a demo (twice) of these pop/dance party/funk tracks with cheesy ass vocals, and i wrote back asking him if he'd even checked out what was on the label before submitting. i haven't heard from him since, thankfully.

What if you even include some cover art that even makes it look like it's some hardcore, kill-whitey rap music on your ambient demo so they know full well that it was intentional?

You could give all the songs rap names, like Da Lazt Time I Saw Dat N****a I Waz Poppin a Cap in Hiz Bitch Face and when they listen to it, it's all pretty.

I suggest you also lay some rhymes on top of the ambient, I think this could work, dark abstract lyrics+ambient/soundscapes.

Maybe some bad ass bass lines.

BTW I'll send of my most minimal, sweet ambient tracks to one of these hardcore gangsta labels these days.. in a CD-case with a cover of some guys with lotsa gold-chains and 40's.. and expensive cars and shit... and a Parental Advisory sticker ofcourse...

i sent a demo to a label (can't remember which), got a reply saying they'd really like to hear more stuff.. so we sent some more similar tracks, and got an arsey pissed-off reply about checking what was on the label before sending anything and not wasting their time etc... :unhappy:
