I've been loading up Audiorealism Bassline (gotta build my x0xb0x #218) in everything I write recently. I noticed that I rarely use the Sawtooth. I just feel like I can more expressiveness out of the Square, I can hardly get a whistle out of the resonance with the saw.

What's your favorite?

I think I prefer the Square. Kinda depends on the mood but personally I find the Square funkier.

It has more punch!

square, but always seems bare without a Saw part to accentuate it.

square is fave and i tend to use that but been getting some use out of the ol' saw lately as well.

saw in general is my favorite, just not on the 303. :grin:

im well into saw at the moment, the thing i find, its nicer to, if you have the 101 doing manily bass mainstay, the saw gives the track a really nice edge, or the treblly 101 melody or lead under the sqaure 303

ha, there you go.... if it weren't for price, i'd have an ms-20 instead of an ms-2000...

I'm very much a sawtooth man. Its all in the asymmetry. same with (non-square) pulse waves. Such a nice asymmetrical sound.

more in general than just specifically the 303, I used to be very into the Square but I find myself more of a Saw man lately. Especially with a good filter. Finding the sweet spot between resonance and cutoff to really get a good growl out of the Saw is awesome.

i use the 202 so i get to use both simultaneously. the 202 kicks the shit out of the 303 in my own humble opinion.

i like both, i used saw more often but square is qrowing on me

square. it's all about the square. so rich, so full. why would anyone use saw? i DO remember i used to prefer saw though... when i was much younger. saw sounds better distorted and back then i thought the 303 only sounds good distorted, stupid me :D

As a general rule, and on a real 303 I much prefer the sawtooth - unfortunately on the Ausiorealism, the sawtooth sound is really shit and reedy and thin and the square is nice and phat and doesn't actually sound that square-y (not as much as a real 303 anyway). However, on the Phoscyon, the sawtooth is my wave of choice as they've made it sound much more authentic.

you can just rip shit to pieces with the saw. can make some grinding ass basslines with it. Square is good too.. but i tend to layer them any how.

square is just so cheesy sounding. Completely different harmonics than a sawtooth. But also its fun to use. I like hard-syncing triangle waves. Thats fun. I like triangle waves a lot especially when I want a cheesy flute-like lead that is not too abrasive. I like ramps though still my favorite and I would not change for anything. Such a nice buzz compared to a square. Thin pulse sounds are close though and can almost replace the saw for me sometimes.
