b born droid
and indulge in a mass episode of feeling sorry for yourself.... but in all seriousness. I've been doing some new tracks recently and it's not that I think they're poor, it's just I can't quite pull off what I'm trying to do, and it's getting really infuriating. I'm sure others feel the same at times. I just wondered how you went about things when you get to that point. Do you work and work and work until you achieve what you want, or do you take some time out and then go back to it. or something different perhaps? Do you work and work and work until you achieve what you want, or do you take some time out and then go back to it. or something different perhaps? yeah, i've just had a couple of months of this - mainly due to my cracked copy of FLoops running out and I was forced to use Renoise and Ableton (which I am more than profficient with, but just do not enjoy). I found that I would start many tracks and then just give up - sometimes even when I was very very close to finishing it - I just couldn't get excited about the software I was using and the tunes I was making with it. Now I've got FLoops back, I've managed to make a track (I'm sure the FLoops thing is probably just psychological and getting it back made me KNOW I could make a whole track on it that sounds good, so I did). So yeah, I guess I just had to kind of keep plodding on, making lots of starts of tracks and getting annoyed and frustrated, then I eventually realised that I know what I'm doing and can make a good track, and so did. I suppose it's all about a positive mental attitude, and, in my case, FLoops helped to bring that back. Squee
I get this all the time, but then I start on something new. The thing is I never really have anything in mind when I start making music. It just develops into something useful or useless. If it's useless then I change what I've created into something more useful, and then later I give up. Guest Adjective
i've been pleased with my most recent tracks the problem is more that i'm incredibly lazy and have tracks taking way more time to complete than they should Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/15733-do-you-ever-find/#findComment-321665 Share on other sites

Guest Dr. Elemeno von Hat X: PhD
yeah, i can totally beat myself up sometimes. i'm really, really good at computers. i'll get in these moods where i'm like, "man, maybe i should forget this music shit and focus on coding again..." that's where i have to smack myself and realize i'm taking things too seriously. who cares how the music comes out, it's fun fiddling with the stuff...
