Can't create a new live set in Ableton

Recommended Posts

Anyone had this problem? Seems that I can't create a totally blank set in Ableton. And what's doubley irritating is that each time I mess around with an existing set it maintains all the old play settings. Any ideas how to get around this problem because its really gonna become a problem otherwise?

is it a naughty copy? or a genuine copy?

and when you mean totally blank set is that 1 audio and 1 midi channel, not even any channels?

set up a set and save it how you want it to open as a blank set

i thought you'd stopped bothering with ableton after the last time it screwed you over? why keep torturing yourself? anyway, i duuno - i guess it's what ism and heliumb said.

Nah, me and Ableton are best friends now. I've mostly got to grips with it now but it sure did take a lot of patience. I think if someone was to have shown me essentially how to set a track to sync perfectly rather than figure it out through trial and error well that would have saved me a lot of pain. Now I've got there I would say its definitely worth endeavouring with.

You must have saved a project as your template.

I may have but I don't really know. I don't mind it in a sense because it's got all my settings.

Actually I'm wondering how would I transfer my Ableton set up wholesale onto a different pc (a laptop). So that would include all my prepared wav files and my controllers settings etc. Any ideas Ism, Heluimb? Cheers.

Yeah I think that's probably the best solution except to say it does maintain all the sequence record data.

You can 'save as self contained' then take that folder over to another computer, load it up & go into 'preferences' & 'set template'. My wording my be a little off.

I'm not sure what you mean by sequence record data. But if you are talking about modulation type stuff in the arrangement view, there's a button to clear it.

Yeah, that's it. In arrangement view, select the parameter's name on the pulldown on the right & hit 'clear envelope'. The one's with automation have a red square by them. After you have that all cleared, save your template.

Cheers I'll give that a shot. Yeah Automation that was it ... I forgot what it was called.
