Guest TooMuchLush
I'm really happy using DP as my main sequencer but im ready to bring something new to my set up. Im curious as to what would be the most versitile VST to run alongside DP. What are y'alls preferances? kakapo
More info needed. Do you mean a VST host? VST instrument? VST effect? Or do you mean any audio program that could conceivably complement DP? BCM
er, Digital Performer? Maybe. Anyway, there are differences - you get VSTi's (instruments) and VST effects. There are also programs that enable you to use VST technology (VST hosts). Most modern audio programs are VST compatible hosts. Not sure about DP, but it probably is. Anyway, it all depends on what you want to do with your VST's. I'm presuming you're actually talking about synths etc, so you want a VSTi. The best I've heard are the ones by Arturia. So you have the Mini Moog, Moog Modular, ARP 2600, Prophet V and a few more I believe. They all sound fucking class and you can get some really good leads, basses, pads etc out of all of them. For acid sounds you want the AudioRealism Bassline Pro or The Phoscyon by D16 Group. There are also loads of free VST's out there - look at Mosca's free plugins list at the top of this forum. I'd have to recommend reaktor since you can make everything from sequencers, to synths, to effects, to noise generators with it. Learning curve comes packaged. Guest Dr. Elemeno von Hat X: PhD
if you're looking for a VST host, steinberg makes a standalone one called V-Stack. haven't used it, but they are the originators of VST, and their software usually hasn't disappointed me... so it's probably worth a look-see. Guest TooMuchLush
yeah shit, i wasnt specific in da least. I was thinking along the lines of Battery, or Reaktor. Something that can be used really integrally in the whole recording and production process, not just a virtual synth. Fuck. Anyway, thanks. ~Chet Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/16579-what-vst-program-should-i-get/#findComment-339493 Share on other sites
