DIY cd Sales @ gigs

just did a really well recieved gig, largest crowd ive played in front of as just space disease. i was trying to sell cds afterwards but only sold one (and my female friend made the sale)

the cds were really sick...handmade cases, hand grafitti stencilled cds, blah blah, and $5

i guess this is normal. or is it? glass plate said he hustled 25 recently!

whats your experienced?

were you just sitting behind the merch table afterwards? i find it works a little better to walk around after you play and talk to people for a bit then be like "yeah i was playing for a bit, youknow.. i got a couple cds here....."blah blah blah.... 5 bucks is a pretty reasonable price, it shouldnt be too hard to sell them. go hang around outside where people are smoking ciggys afterwards and start yelling and dance!! you gotta hustle that shit for your life, son!!

...i dont know, i guess it also depends on the people youre playing too though.. the group im in have played and sold zero cds afterwards, and we've also done shows (at the same venues) where we sell like 30+ cdrs after. so i dont know,.. just yell.

should have gave the merch booth a shoutout before your show ended

but i do have a funny cd selling experience,,

once a year for a week or so in my town theres a killer street festival called the "fringe''

we played there last year and the year before,, but last time we had cd's to push,, about 100 or so

i wasent performing,, but a couple buddys in the group were,, and literally,, between everysong or just dead spot in the beat,, theyd yeall "DEMOS DEMOS DEMOS!! WE GOT DEMOS! PICK UP A DEMO!!"

we probably only sold a total of 10 or so but the funny thing was is that buddy who made all the cd's was a burnout and dident put any songs on there,, or somthing gay went wrong,,

but we hussled those pritty hard and the gay thing was is the people who were buying them looked really hype to hear it

oh well

Do as the Gypsy's do with lucky heather and shove the cd's in peoples hands then demand some money!

I've played some shows where I sell nothing and others where I sell out. It might depend on the night of the week you play and the crowd you're playing to. I'm not sure why, but I tend to sell more CD's on Thursdays...

Yeah, making Spraypainted CD's your self is the shit, I sold a few more, to random people, and last night, I learned my local thrift store place sells CD's of local artists, so I brought in 5 coppies, and she's gonna call me when/if they sell, and she's using one copy to play in the store, so we'll see what happens.

I haven't had any gigs, sinceI made my CD's, If I do it at my school, I will have them at the table at the front were they pay 1$ to get in. (it'll be a "fundraiser"), and if it's any where else, I'll just say at the end of the show "If you wanna purchase a CD of my stuff, it's only 5$, just find me and askkkkk"

i must suck really bad, cos i have trouble giving them away for free. FOR FREE! TROUBLE! GIVING THEM AWAY! FREE! FUCK!

what? really? I think if I gave away my CD for free, half the school would give it a listen if not more. (then, I would start getting beat up all the time or something probally)
