It's uncommon for such a fat/smooth tone to not sound like it's straight out of a software package. Sweet. goffer
Solid track... nice textures and plenty of sounds to keep the mind racing. I dig how the second half evolved into some sort of acid hybrid track. Nice addition with the voice samples. I love that melody you brought in during the last minute of so. Great track man. i guess you can check this track out, for an EP i told myself i had to do during the holiday break. I was a little disappointed that the MIDI rhodes & guitar joined, and the drums i think you should find a more organic way to mix a melody within the track. The samples are genius though! There's this one sample a third of the way through of something creaking... I thought that was great. The second half becomes sort of a MIDI noodling which I wasn't too fond of... at this point it sounds very derivative of The Books. I liked the first half a lot more. Guest ChrisHipgrave
Very nice. I like the percussion. Nice stereo spread. A very well crafted track. i like the way it gradually changed but kept the general feel, a good compositional trait to have. http://myspace.com/lukefuckingwarm Review any shit i've done if you like. Luke Warm Frog Spawn Worm.. catchy samples. The amen beat sounds a little thin though, but well sequenced, very well programmed, & you have a gift with sampling. Trippy, in a way that makes me forget about analyzing the song, so I just lapse into it. I can't tell much about the mix cause of Myspace streaming... I can't tell in what context I'd listen to this— it doesn't quite have the punch of a mindfuck song but it's not tame enough to listen to in the background. autopilot
I think your song is well produced & mastered, nice sound pallette. The melodies were not really my cup of tea, however this does not decrease my appreciation for the quality of the song. BCM
yeah, i agree with invisible sandwich about it being all very well done and nicely produced etc. the melodies were also not quite my cup of tea, but hey-ho. it's definitely very "electronic music", which I have to say I'm a little bored with. it's nice when the 4/4 beat kicks in towards the end and did have my head nodding and kept the track lively and interesting. wasn't to keen on the voice samples, but did like the pads at the end. so yeah, it's a solid tune, but didn't quite make me sit up and think "this is something new and exciting". not that anything i do can be considered new and exciting though, so don't listen to me... anyway review one of mine if you like, or not if you don't - all in my sig.... also, you seem like a man that could make a good acid tune - have a go at the competition!! go on!!! get aciding. Really quite like the drum samples actually. Getting bored at 3:40. 4:00 like the melody coming in nice little track, I like the use of odd samples and jittery use the most. my track Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/16641-a-track/#findComment-343935 Share on other sites
Guest gron
Sandwich: Link is broken for me... tried fiddling around with the spaces but to no avail. I heard the track earlier and remember that the beat was pretty wonderful and then I passed out. Joshier: I reviewed in your original thread. BCM: Listening to Spontaneous Combustion. Ahh feels so analog... warm + fuzzy, and the lack of definition makes it sound even better. I love natural sounding distortion like this. The melody + bass elements sort of clash in a cool way. I don't know how long acid will be relevant, but your style is certainly refreshing. If I found this in a record store I would buy a CD of it but I don't know if I would ever listen to it cause I can't really think of a time&place for it! Dpek
I really liked the production. The track itself was evolving and it wasn't boring so two thumbs up! So I gave it another listen and it really lost some of its luster. Maybe pump up the mix, add some different instrumentals inside the song, tighten up the timing... don't rely just on singing+beat+a couple instrument loops for a song this long! But neat stuff. Guest Glass Plate
Not quite my cup of tea, but amazingly done, and pretty brilliant. Just none of it really grabbed me, no real melody it seemed, I dunno though, I might be out of it. http://www.myspace.com/samwhitethekysaint (Lights go off stars .....) (I'm unsure of this track myself) some clipping (myspace compression?)... boards-y soft synth... 606-y drums. i like the idea— shuffling noises, lo-fi ambient piece. i'm not too fond of the execution, though. it sort of feels like it was thrown together, whether it was or not. there isn't much here so make sure what you do present is exactly what you want it to be. if it's going to be lofi and noisy, employ more subtlety.
