pcock
not exactly mellow, heh my advice is not exactly what a review should be, cos think its up to you what to do with melodies and stuff, but im on about 3 minutes now and this synth tune is boring as hell add some harmony, let the tune veer off in a different direction, a different key, just go somewhere. its obviously pretty talented stuff, but i still just think it gives off that vibe of 'bedroom producer' just because of the lack of variety. nice beats though. im halfway through and on the bit with little pizzicato figure, nice enough, but it needs a tune like(IMO), hoping you dont bring in the orginal tune again. likin this bit now,at about 6-7 mins, sounds a bit like a happy medeival chris clark i think if i were you i would put an actual melody in this bit, its just a muddle of plucked notes, it would give it more clarity if you put a tune in on a different voice, add a bit of spice to the key your using and i hate fade out endings, but thats just me (y) Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/16823-latest-track-mellow/#findComment-343950 Share on other sites
Guest Basi Goreng
I enjoyed it, had this on while working and I didn't think the 9 minutes were too long. I do think it is mellow and has plenty of melody. Some variation in the melody and sound would be nice though. Maybe some more textural abstract stuff in the background to break the repetition a bit. I think you have a point.. I might of gone a bit overboard with the plucking harps, so yeah, thanks a lot for your reply. Yeah, the other poster almost said the same thing really, and I do agree looking at it from another perspective. Thanks. I've put a fair bit of work into this track and I hope you enjoy it. Your browser does not support the HTML5 audio tag link Has sort of the stereotypical build-up found in home-made electronic tunes... But then you have an interesting percussion instrument come in 1/6 of the way through, and a much more appealing melodic device. At this point I like it, but when everything goes away and the Harpy thing solos, I become too aware that it is some sort of MIDI'd instrument... maybe if you hid it behind some analog noise or something. Whe percussion comes back it's fine, relaxing, although the percussion is split between hits that have a cheap sound and hits that have a deep, sterophonic bass sound, and I can't tell how how you got those deep noises to have so much immediate presence. Then there's sort of the string climax, nice, sort of reminds me of On. My worry with this track is its length and the reliance on MIDI. If you could get it more analog warmth it would be stunning. As it is, it is very pleasant and nice. I enjoyed. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/16823-latest-track-mellow/#findComment-344049 Share on other sites

I think you are right about the points you made (e.g. length), I'll bear all this feedback I've gotten today in mind on my next track. Cheers. Guest pawwa
Yeah, I don`t find your track mellow. I don`t like the melody from the start, sorry. On 3:57 I like the melody that comes in, it is played nice. From that time, the tracks is pretty mellow for me, some good beats too, good percutions samples, and arrangement. Everything gets progresivly more emotional. You have some nice ideas, nice melodyes, just try doing it more professionaly if you want it to sound great. I think the tune is a bit long... Keep up.
