i need a new mixer

Recommended Posts

Guest eatanter

hey guys,

i really need a new mixer, but i never got too deep into mixers for that matter, i'm still considering them like more of a necessity

really. been working with my phonic mu 1002 up to now, but during last year, i've aquired several effect units, and using them with just one auxbus is not really top-notch mixing, eh? i wanna use em independently, not only in one row. also, there are only eqs for the first 2 channels. my budget is not that large,or i would have gotten me a nice mackie or midas already.so what im looking for is

a mixer with - at least 10 channels

- eqs for every channel

- 3 auxbusses at the very least

- headroom! phonic mu series seems to lack that, and using effects through send/return is real millimeterwork on this

- 3 or more independent outputs

- the price somewhere between 200 and 350 €

so, mixing buffs, please recommend me an appropriate console for my needs, and please tell me what makes the mixer of your choice. i need it!

oh and by the way i dont care about usb or firewire, im using my machines mostly "analoguely".

Might be best looking at second hand. Something like an old allen and heath mixwizard might scrape into that budget.

id love to get a decent 32/8/2 mixer but just cant afford it...

at the mo im using 3 behringers (my cheap ears aint good enough yet to hear how shit theyre supposed to be (: )

mx802a

4 mono in with mic pre amp, gain and 2 stereo in

2 mono sends (one post and one pre)

2 stereo returns with levels

3 band eq and pan on all channels

all rotary - no faders

control room out and monitor out

main stereo out

was about £80 new, my first mixer, probably too small for your needs

mx1604a

4 mono in with mic pre amp, gain and 4 stereo in

2 mono sends 1 switchable post/pre and one post with overall send level

2 stereo returns with levels

mute, solo and pan for each channel

alt3+4 plus main and control room

faders for all channels and alts, main

£90 ebay job, does the trick, quite versatile, probably not enough sends for you

mx2642a

8 mono in with mic pre amp and 4 stereo in, all have gain

parametric eq on all channels (hi, low, sweepable mid)

6 mono sends 1+2 switchable post/pre 3,4,5,6 post

4 stereo return plus level/pan

mute, solo and pan on each channel

4 sub groups

control room, monitor and main out

£120 ebay job, i like it... all pretty standard features and quality of components could be an issue...

if your on a tight budget/starting out it might suit you fine tho

Guest feta lol

ive been using my old tascam 8 channel analog with spring reverb lately. it's so fucking warm and the white noise it puts out is great for lo pass or high pass dynamic filters. god damn it sounds great. i love spring reverb. i like to run my guitar through it with a tiny bit of spring reverb and then run it through a dynamic filter and then condense the fuck out of it.
