For anyone thats sure that they have heard the _real_ hooper bay, could someone please describe some of the songs to me so I can make sure that I have the real one. The length of the tracks closely matches discogs (they are like 1 second shorter each, I account this for being a cassette so track times aren't definite).

I am quite confident that you do not have the real one. There is no real one.

Fumi, the gal in your avatar is very striking.

Oh yeah, seems like we get three or so of these threads every year.

It's probably Mum.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

If there are no rules against it, i'll gladly post one of the tracks on the forum tonight. (And probably catch a lot of shit for it :))

I am aware that the vast majority of them out there are fake, but this one had the length of the tracks so close that I was impressed.

Also, does anyone know any sources to get the some of the real unreleased stuff? (except any of the "old tunes" serious and boc maxima).

there are no rules against posting a track of this type. however, pictures of the tape itself and any sort of information as to how you came across it would be preferable. a simple track will not be enough to determine its legitimacy.

it is easy to fake tracks that have not been publicly released, and even easier to make track times coincide.

Lol. Apparently no Mum fans here. Seward Leaf and Geiser are also Mum, from their first wide release "Yesterday was dramatic, today is OK"

Here's a good rule of thumb: unless boc or any member thereof show up at your house and present you with a copy of hooper bay* and say "Morning. I'm from hexagon sun, here's my passport and two other forms of identification. I would like you to have a genuine copy of hooper bay*" -it's a fake.

*Closes, Acid Memories, Play By Numbers, Catalog 3 and any leaked new boc may be substituted above as indicated.

I am beginning to think that Closes, Acid Memories, Play By Numbers, Catalog 3 do not exist and never have. Let's face it, in this age of internet availability there is NOTHING that is that hard to find. Especially considering that some of these were supposedly issued/reissued on CD according to discogs.com. There is always someone who will leak things to the net. I have downloaded every single one of the Hooper Bay posts that I could find and none of them are BOC. Until someone can prove it to me without a doubt, they are just an imaginary back catalog that was created to generate hype.

yeah but then you have the mystery untitled demo tapes with obvious boc tracks on it that nobody can label, they could be from any of the old releases, its impossible to know until a genuine leak surfaces tho :/

They do exist, they were just given to very select individuals (very close friends/family), hence them not getting leaked (yet). Also, remember, all of these "releases" (they were all self-funded DIY efforts) were made before the internet really took off - very small chance of somebody uploading them somewhere. The big reason they can't be found is they were never commercially released - Twoism was an exception since while the band did do the sleeves themselves (must have been fun adhering your own stickers on the sleeves and vinyl), they did actually put a few copies in local shops.

Hopefully BoC will consider putting out select tracks from these releases, or release them outright or as a BoC-set (ha). They've mentioned it being a possibility, but emissions from the Hexagon Sun have been very sparse as of late.

I still find it odd that the old tunes tapes leaked, as those seem even more rare than the old BOC albums. I'll bet if they had a choice in the matter, they would prefer the old albums leaked as opposed to the old tunes collections. All speculation of course.

Remember that the OT tapes were given out more freely (a mistake) than the album releases - in fact, the only verifiable person I know that own's actual copies of BoC's back catalogue is the Cosmic Crofter, which I think works for Benbecula now. He was the one that set up the old BoC EHX site (BoC's first webpage) where these old releases were first mentioned (first it was just Twoism and BoC Maxima, back to Acid Memories, then the really rare ones like Catalog 3 and Closes Volume One appeared, with the mention that they had been "repressed" onto CD in 1997. I think BoC does not include them in their current discography due to the overwhelming requests for copies of the music or information on them.
