Guest tidbit
Drexciya's DJ Stingray mix with 16 cuts of analogue mayhem with fierce rhythms and some vintage synth sounds all add up to a CD. 1 Cosmic Force Otomatic (1:51) 2 Double Dutch Launch Detected (1:57) 3 Cosmic Force Who Can You Trust (3:29) 4 Double Dutch Tonight Is Your Night (2:63) 5 Ototax Track 5 (2:09) 6 Cosmic Force Control Room (4:13) 7 Cosmic Force Optical Rape (3:02) 8 Proskool Hit $ Run (2:76) 9 Cosmic Force Elevator (2:16) 10 Cosmic Force Masterblaster (1:96) 11 Double Dutch Locate The Imitator (3:93) 12 Cosmic Force Your Choice Ofcourse (2:17) 13 Cosmic Force System Malfunction (0:89) 14 Double Dutch Plan Of Action (3:03) 15 Cosmic Force The Big Revenge (3:13) 16 Double Dutch Surface On Fire (4:12) discogs ..boomkat "Famed for the kind of rabid electro which can strip the enamel clean of your teeth, Cosmic Force (also under their Double Dutch and Ototax aliases) straddled the latter half of the Nineties as a hard-boiled counterpart to the dot-to-dot techno and staid house that was cluttering up the clubs. With anyone in possession ears realising how good their releases were, it's no wonder that the shelves have been stripped and getting hold of their original pressings is nigh on impossible. But fear not, for Drexciyan DJ Stingray is on hand to give you the potted tutorial... Taking in the period 1996 through to 2002, 'Studio X Retrospective' features both rare and long deleted Cosmic Force cuts, all sewn together with the kind of invisible thread which elevates a good mix from mere compilation into barnstorming event. Boasting Drexciya's DJ Stingray at the and clocking in at 16 tracks, the album works on a number of levels - granting access to material that might otherwise go unheard, whilst proffering up a mix that heaves with momentum and self-propelled sequencing. Very much influenced by the carbonated digital funk that comprised Drexciya's aquatic palate, Cosmic Force are all about the contrasts; matching jump-wired beats and relentless rhythms to a bubbling pot of analogue basslines which serve to make the top-spin all the more distinct. So fresh you can smell the early morning dew, the likes of opener 'Otomatic', 'Who Can You Trust' and 'The Big Revenge' are towering examples of machine music able to be both brazenly brusque and intricately plotted simultaneously. Raw and textured, 'Retrospective Studio X' is a balls-to-the-wall aural document that installs a machine heart deep within the electro-canon before making it beat like a bad 'un. Xcellent!" ..... anyone heard/has it yet? how is it..? cosmic force is quite alright anyway Edited February 5, 2007 by tidbit Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/17380-comic-force-retrospective-studio-x-1996-2002/ Share on other sites
