Guest Promo
I know its totally over used but I just can't find a break which kicks through the mix in the same way. I mean there are some other awesome breaks such as Champion and another one I can't think of but I think the Prodigy used it quite a bit. Guest Promo
Not sure. Probably be one that's not used in much jungle. I'm using the 'Fools Gold' break in a tune currently and I've had to pitch it up and add some distortion to get it to bite through the mix but I still feel like I want some Amen in this tune I'm doing. Guest greenbank
the ultramagnetic one is melvin bliss - synthetic substitution maybe? i love sesame street (blowfly) and think, sesame is prob my favourite but i'll almost always mix things up with a few (although i don't do break stuff all that often). ten fingers ten toes
is there a good repository of a bunch of "Standard" breaks? Ive never really taken the time to get to know my Champion from my Apache, I just know enough names to spout off about shit I don't know anything about. Guest greenbank
uhh not really, not one i'd call 'good' - there are a few sites with largish collections of .wavs at 16bit, 44.1K but fuckers always re-encode mp3s as wavs and stuff. so yes you can find sites with lots but half them are stripped of high end if not downright watery-burble filled from the mp3 compression. fine if you just want to hear them but rubbish if you want to use them. I've managed to get some ones Prodigy used in Experience (really bassy nice ones) but the ones on the album are mashed up with things and I've never really managed to recreate it properly. Yeah 'think' is pretty decent as is 'sesame street'. There is the attached break which is supa fat but doesn't appear to get used much and I don't know its actual name. Guest greenbank
i have over a gig and a half of just the loops but its a fucking mess, some are shite qual, some named obtusely, some not named at all and lots of stray directories and duplicates. i was trying to come up with some way of organising them by their sound or something but not really an easy task. 8 years worth of downloading a few here and there, no idea it had got so immense! i'd like to share but its too much a mess just now and i can't really put them up on a site cos the bandwidth would get totally raped in seconds. i need a new hard drive and computer (end of month and i can afford) and if i ever get round to it i'll clean up, categorise, rename and find some way of sharing properly. at the moment you can find them on soulseek - username 'anboi' but i'm not on often and dinnae take the piss! fannies keep trying to take the lot! I was thinking of running a DB with loads of info attached to the breaks (artist, title, sampled by, source, quality etc. etc. - everythign necessary) in mysql + php on a local computer (to start with) then can stick parts online easily with some sort of login or something to prevent ridiculous bandwidth use. (and also an upload page of some sort to get new ones in exchange!) probably just a pipe dream really but i go back every so often and tidy parts of my drum machines + breaks collections so they're improving slowly. there is a site called www.the-breaks.com which has a fairly decent list of tracks and who sampled them but it's hardly exhaustive and rarely has what i want. (and you have to go find them yerself after finding what they are!) Guest Promo
Yeah I found a good few sources over the years but the problem has been the lack of good quality breaks in wav format. Unfortunatly it hasn't got the other bars attached to it but it must have been remastered along the way. Lets recap some recent threads of yours: * Recommend me a laptop * Recommend me a sequencer * Recommend me a way to pull audio from a DVD * Recommend me some fx vst's * Recommend me an amen break Your inability to do anything music related is honestly incredible. Braintree
Yeah, I've never actually used a break in one of my songs. I usually program my own [from drum kits I've built] and cut them up, or throw them back in as samples to get that 'sampled break' feel.
