Firewire card for Laptop?

Recommended Posts

Looking to get a firewire soundcard for my laptop which I'm gonna buy.

The Behringer F-Control Audio FCA202 (2 In/2 Out 24-Bit/96 kHz FireWire Audio Interface) looks good and well it is cheap as chips. Anyone used this because essentially I want to be able to get the latency down on Ableton 5. I'm assuming that a pro firewire soundcard will be better than the internal shitty soundcards that Dell laptops come with. Don't really want to get USB as Firewire to me is always gonna be faster. Any views?

someone pointed out to me that I had a firewire port on my laptop, I didn't notice it - it's a tiny little socket.

i have a usb audio iFace(interface) with 4 inputs routed to two sub mixers. The latency is pretty good in Live 8ms in and 6 out or something. Live has latency compensation for output, so I just adjust the other tracks and the sync sounds ok. I tighten the recorded clips up a bit afterward.

my sound box is very temperamental though, so i would like to get a firewire guy like this. If you get it, please tell us how well it works.

edit; it's only £50! it only has 2 inputs though. I could work around that pretty easily i guess.
