soliciting your favorite artists for remixes

following up on a topic i had made a few weeks ago (that got deleted a day after it was made i think because of some database issues joyrex was having), has anyone ever tried this, and if so what sort of dialogue takes place, and what sort of money do you think is involved?

just to follow up a bit, this morning i've heard back from the artist i sent an email to, and he politely has asked to hear the track and for me to propose a fee. i have no clue what a fair fee would be, at all. any ideas?

i guess you have to look at how many albums this artists sells. then put that into some equation, divide it by pi and then

Well. I don't know. If hes cool he'll do it for like 35 bucks. If hes not he'll do it for regular fee. If you were to make money off of releasing this it would be a different story.

We sort of asked Christ. if he wanted to do a remix of a Rubens track.

He told us to beat it.

(well not really, his take on it was that he preferred to rework with non-electronic material - vocals in particular - as this offered something new to work with rather than trying to restructure an existing electronic track into something that will always be inextricably tied to its orginal sound or form. a sentiment that i appreciate and understand fully.)

anyway, we'll keep harassing him nonetheless!
