Im using an m-audio axiom 61 controller. It's got 8 pads (among other things) that I like to use for sample firing/scene shifts in ableton live. Does anyone know how I can set up the controller so that I can "flip through" sets whereby I shift to the next set of 8 scenes/samples/whatever without changing anything else (knob settings, fader settings, etc.) ? do I just make a preset where the pads send different messages on the controller itself?

also, is there a button in Live for moving to the next scene that i just havent found yet? because I feel like there must be a better way to go about things than simply starting the next scene manually.

i had the same question a while back when i ran out of knobs. basically you should be able to change the midi channel of your controller - ableton 6 allows multiple midi numbers to be assigned to different parameters so its just a case of changing the midi channel and assigning the knobs/fader to the same as they are on your original midi channel and so having those pads freed up for something else. i dont actually recommend doing this for knobs carelessly as i had some problems with a rushed live set in which, for example, there was volume and modulation amount assigned to the same channel and so when scrolling back to a different midi channel there would suddenly be 50% modulation on everything etc...

hope this helppps

'ere we go, it's dead easy:

1. Click on the Midi learn

2. Click on the up or down button (which one you want to assign the button to). Then press the pad on your midi controller

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.
