experimental release idea

release your stuff on micro cassette

that would be hillarious, i know it's been done, but it's a cool idea

even if it's like a mixtape,, give them away at a show and people will be like "wtf man, what is This>>? "

most people have the patience of a carrot on crack, and would probably throw it away. unless you're thinking of an electronic music'ish crowd, which i assume would probably care enough to go and find out wtf it actually is?

I think they're dead cute. It'd be the sort of thing I'd remember and treasure as a memento of a good night. If the night was good!

i've always liked those little 5 minute business card cds - a nice little format to work with (though with obvious limitations)... sent out a load of those 3 inch cds as demos a while back too, they were cute.

i wanted to do an extremely limited AAC release on floppy disks

I've used the 3 inch CD's before, but that's about it.

My next release will be on Edison wax cylinder.

i think it would be cool to do a release on a vhs tape. just sound, no picture..

i think a release which in some way shape or form utilizes gmail or some other email provider which gives you a lot of space. i think theres a lot of possibilities with that which were kind of completely unavailable 2 years ago.

at the very least I plan on backing up some lossless files by emailing them to my own gmail account.

but I was also thinking of some sort of collaborative project where a large pool of people all send raw audio material and a much smaller group of people all work on their own projects with this material, perhaps going thru a few times emailing finished projects back to the email address and different people taking it and messing with it or something, fuck i dunno i'm drunk. but theres a lot that can be done there.

the first 3 (limited) releases from custom music records were exclusive to microcassette. very adorable indeed, each cassette was taken apart ahead of time, coated in colored paint (varying per release), reassembed and labeled, and the end result was great.
