well here's a track i did last night using only the ACToolbox hooked up to waldorf's microwave synth and a sherman filterbank. ACToolbox just spat out midi data to the synth, controlling several parameters at once, based on iterations of (the attractor of) a roessler system, here it is:

dnoyes: take a look at http://algorithmic.net .. it's like kvr-vst for generative software/techniques; a huge software database, plus also a shitload of articles about algorithmic composition, dating back to the 1950's..

topicstarter: i think maxmsp wasn't mentioned yet? you might have performance issues with synthesis stuff (msp) on your beige G3.. but hook up a midi interface, set up max, and you have yourself an excellent sequencer

topicstarter may also enjoy: LiSa, which is a program for live sampling, a nice package for on the fly looping and mangling, totally geared towards live-applications. and also Junxion & Bigeye, programs to convert joystick/touchscreen/video data to MIDI and OSC, very sophisticated and well-thought-out stuff. see www.steim.org
