Guest TEXX
This is a mixed version of the song i need help with. It sounds muddy and i am not sure how to equalize the different elements so that it doesen't sound like shit. I am looking for you people to tell me what's wrong, what i can possibly do about it and why i am doing this. The track is eight minutes long at the moment, but the intro is about two minutes long, so just skip that. The samples are too high in volume, so nevermind this. It's the drums and synth i am confused about. The song consists of following elements: Distorted Kick (eq-ed low) Metal hits (one overlays the kick at moments) Two amens (one doing alot of drilling, the other just keeping the pace) A mogue (run through the antares tube for gain) Soundclips (volume too high, as mentioned) I like the track, but i also appreciate other peoples opinions of things i've done. If you think i need to know that something is bad or (unlikely) good, tell me so. It'll help me lots! ten fingers ten toes
Well, listening to it on shit laptop speakers while I wait for XP to install on my new hardrive... During the first part, there's a sample of essentially white noise playing the whole time, which is going to really fuck up any mixing because its all over the place spectrum wise. eq the fuck out of everything. try to stick to cuts rather than gains. Don't add 3 db on one section, remove a few db from others you don't want to accentuate and raise the overall volume of the track, youll find things much more filled out that way. Sorry I can't hear more to give more advice on these speakers. Squee
The drums are barely noticeable on my speakers? They could definitely use some compressing and EQing EDIT: But that's some awesome beat-programming Edited April 5, 2007 by Squee Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/19376-help/#findComment-396564 Share on other sites
Guest gurt massif
The main problem I hear is that youve got your kick being masked by that low end machinery rumble sort of sound. Id try eqing the rumble to leave a gap for the kick to sit in, or layering the kick with something thats got a bit more attack on it to bring out some more, and turn it up. All the drums are very mono too, try sticking the hats to one side, and move the edited amen stuff around. Hope that helps a bit Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/19376-help/#findComment-397124 Share on other sites
