Good idea for samples

Hello

Just watched the film '300' and it's a brilliant film, and I just thought....Fuck it man... why don't I samples some of these fucking great samples from the sound track of the film? (as in, sound effects specifically).

So, that's my new source of sampling, films...

You guys I'm sure know this already, but it's a good idea for newbies and the like.

Oh and, I mention '300' because it has loads of sword swings and so on, they sound brilliant.

yeah...

a lot of people worry about copyright bullshit, but I don't fucking care any more... my music isn't good enough to sell, so why should I give a fuck about that!

becomes less a good a idea if others follow suit, spartan sword break?

you know a sound designer or foley artist spent some time creating, sculpting, crafting those sounds but why not take the next step of "metal sounds nice slanging, clanging, banging" and collect a bunch of metal things, get out your recording setup, and improve your capturing skills by bringing something new in this world, because this is a run-on sentence?

yer i'm always throwing the dvd into my pc after watching a film and trying to find that sound which i want to steal.

sword sounds are better in monkey than in 300

Anime has the best clicks and little sound effects for audio. I've sampled a lot from FLCL and some other action titles. I should purchase some more movies and do some sampling once I get some free time.

...by the way....this is maybe the reason, why I don´t have any music out since I rejected all samples and sounds I didn´t do myself or haven´t bought,.

post a sample of this 'spartan sword' sound please? i have an idea

sampling movies is fine...but to fully understand and take total control of your direction try to recreate the sounds (probably won't come out exactly the same..or even near in the beginning but you'll get a way deeper understanding in the end...

but don't take my word for it....
